We are actively looking for experienced Account Manager candidates to support the daily activities of a large-scale strategic publication plan. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position that provides an excellent opportunity for growth and advancement.

Key responsibilities:

Responsible for ensuring excellence in the development and delivery of strategic publication plans. Account Managers are the communication directors of their teams and effectively and efficiently manage the daily operations of an account. The ideal candidate will have outstanding customer service skills, extraordinary multi-tasking abilities, experience in managing publication plans, extensive knowledge of industry guidelines, and the ability to create and implement action plans and drive projects to completion on time and on budget. Datavision experience desired. Assisting Account Directors with proposals, forecasts, and project profitability required.

Position requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience in a pharmaceutical and/or medical communications company

  • Bachelor’s degree (candidates with an advanced degree and/or CMPP certification preferred)

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple accounts in compliance with internal and industry policies

  • Strong written/verbal communication skills

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • Effective in working with internal/external resources

  • At ease with finances and budget profitability

Position: Associate Director Medical Publications
Company: Bioverativ, a Sanofi company
Location: Waltham, MA

This position oversees the development and execution of strategic publication plans for therapeutic areas (TAs) of interest to Bioverativ. This person is responsible for all aspects of publication development and is accountable for meeting publication development timelines/deadlines, including hands-on project management and in-depth scientific knowledge, for a portion of the plan(s).

As part of responsibilities for publications development, this person will ensure compliance with the Bioverativ publications policy, standard operating procedures, and with external guidelines on good publication practices. They will participate in cross-functional team meetings within Global Medical and other key functions within Bioverativ to ensure alignment of publications with the overall Medical strategy and communication objectives. Additionally, they will maintain good relationships and collaborations for publication-related activities with external partners. This position will report to the Executive Director, Medical Publications.

Main responsibilities of this role include:
  1. Oversee the development of the strategic publication plans

    1. Ensure that publication plans and priorities are aligned with overall Medical strategy, congress plan and communication objectives

    2. Oversee and drive the execution of publications

    3. Liaise with key functions in Bioverativ, external collaborators, and external medical communications agencies, to ensure alignment regarding content development

  2. Ensure development of publications complies with the internal and/or external policies and SOPs

  3. Manage publication budget

  4. Provide regular updates on publication activities

  5. Coordinate with Medical Communications and Medical Information to ensure bibliographies are updated and maintained

  6. Report publication metrics on key objectives to Executive Director, Medical Publications

Qualifications:

  1. PharmD or PhD in a biological science or related field or MD, and 6+ years of related experience at pharmaceutical company or medical communications agency 

  2. Successful track record of implementation of global publication programs 

  3. Knowledge and understanding of the pharmaceutical commercialization process

  4. Development of global medical plans and global medical communication and publication strategy

  5. Management of consultants, relationship with collaborators, and vendors

  6. Excellent verbal & written communication skills

  7. Sensitivity and orientation to identify systemic issues

Education:

  • PharmD or PhD in a biological science or related field preferred

Position: Senior Director, Medical Communications

The Senior Director Medical Communications leads the Biologics Early Clinical Medical Writing and Publications functions. The leader will have experience in building & leading teams, technical expertise in the Medical Communications field, and strategic vision for both regulatory requirements and publication impact, with an important role to ensure the scientific recognition of MedImmune.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Directors, Senior Managers and Associates in Medical Writing & Publications to transform the group to be the best-in-class Medical Communications team across the Industry.
  • Partner with senior leaders across MedImmune R&D, Early Clinical Development and AstraZeneca's Late-stage organization to shape innovation strategies and strengthen scientific presence resulting in increased impact our publications over time.
  • Partner to simplify regulatory document preparation, including automation of content authoring when appropriate, and ensure excellence in our regulatory submissions.
  • Demonstrate strong stake-holder engagement by effectively translating their requirements into the planning & development process and managing their expectations.

  • Evolve existing operating model for working with external authors and vendors to align with state-of-the art industry trends.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in the life sciences, preferably with a Masters/PhD
  • Extensive experience (15+ years) in biotech or pharmaceutical industry with strong passion for science
  • Proven experience building and managing high-performing teams
  • Comprehensive understanding of current publications/communications guidelines and trends
  • Overall understanding of Medical Writing & related regulatory requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical and pharmaceutical drug development process
