ISMPP Task Forces and Objectives

ISMPP may establish a Task Force to address focused areas of need, emerging issues, or priorities in the medical publications and communications profession. Task Forces bring together individuals with relevant knowledge, expertise, and perspectives to develop resources, insights, and initiatives that support ISMPP members and the broader profession. Current ISMPP Task Forces and their objectives are provided below.

Patient Engagement Task Force

The Patient Engagement Task Force promotes meaningful and practical patient involvement in medical publications and communications by developing resources, perspectives, and examples that help patients and professionals understand and put patient engagement into practice.

The Task Force develops and maintains practical patient engagement resources; curates patient and patient-partner perspectives, examples, and case studies that demonstrate patient engagement in action; and identifies emerging evidence, practices, challenges, and lessons that can help inform decisions about when and how to involve patients meaningfully in medical publications and communications.

Artificial Intelligence Task Force

The Artificial Intelligence Task Force helps ISMPP members understand and responsibly apply artificial intelligence in medical communications and publications by generating insights and translating emerging technologies, practices, and expectations into practical guidance and resources.

The Task Force explores how AI is being evaluated and applied across medical communications and publications; generates insights into adoption, workflows, barriers, organizational readiness, and implementation; helps members navigate evolving expectations for responsible AI use, transparency, disclosure, governance, and accountability; and examines the organizational, behavioral, skills, and human-AI collaboration factors that influence successful adoption.
